Cases and appeals

Every action becomes a case with its reasons, an undo and a fair appeal.

What happens

Appeals

If Defendr or a server acted on you, you can ask for a review with /appeal. A reviewer who was not involved in the original decision looks at it and answers by DM within 14 days.

Example

/appeal

Reviewing appeals

Appeals about this server's cases are decided by this server's moderators. Appeals about Defendr network listings are decided by the Defendr team, who can only recommend a change for cases inside your server.

Example

/case

Cases

Every automatic action by Defendr becomes a numbered case in your server. A case holds the reason, the steps Defendr took and every later change. Use /case to browse them and /case number: to open one.

Example

/case number:12

Why did Defendr act?

The Why? button on a case card explains the match: which detection fired, how confident it was, which sources list the value, what the server configured and which limits reduced the action.

Example

/case number:12

False positives

If Defendr got it wrong, press False positive. Defendr undoes the member effect, stops matching that value in your server and asks its staff to review the match. Deleted messages cannot be restored.

Example

/case number:12

Manual moderation

/warn, /timeout, /kick, /ban and the buttons of the user card (/case user:) run through the same case machinery as Defendr's own actions: every action gets a numbered case with the Why? explanation, the appeal path and the Revert button. Durations are written as 10m, 2h, 1d or 1d12h. A timeout lasts at most 28 days; a ban with a duration is lifted again by Defendr when the time is up, even if the bot was offline at that moment.

Example

/ban user:@Someone reason:Scam duration:7d

Evidence

Moderators and reviewers of this server can open the evidence of their own cases one item at a time. The reply is only visible to you, images are hidden behind a spoiler, and every view is logged.

Example

/case number:12
