Accessibility

What we do so everyone can use Defendr's website, and where it still falls short.

Our goal

The website aims to meet WCAG 2.2 at level AA in every language, including right-to-left Arabic.

What we do

  • You can use the website with the keyboard: the first stop of the Tab key is the “Skip to content” link, and the element that has the focus is visibly marked.
  • Text meets the contrast requirements in the light and the dark colour scheme. States such as “On” or “Off” are not shown by colour alone, but also by a word or a symbol.
  • The website follows your device's “reduce motion” setting unless you choose full animations on the website. You can also reduce animations there yourself.
  • Arabic is shown with right-to-left reading direction.
  • The charts of the server overview also contain a table with the same values, which screen readers read out.
  • Before every new version, the testing tool axe checks every page against the rules of WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at levels A and AA, in the dark colour scheme in at least English, German and Arabic, and every English page in the light colour scheme as well. The independent status page is not part of these checks.

Known limits

  • A test with screen readers is still to be done.
  • Texts in languages other than English and German are machine translations and may be unclear.
