Defendr checks images, the QR codes inside them and file attachments. Images are matched against reviewed scam images by a perceptual hash, so a recoloured or cropped copy still matches. QR codes are read and their link is checked like any other link. Attachments are checked by name and by their first bytes. Nothing is uploaded anywhere and no image is ever copied into a log channel.

Scam images and QR codes
A scam image matches when its hash is close enough to a reviewed one; halves and quarters are hashed too, so a collage still matches. A QR code that contains a Discord login link is the classic account takeover: scanning it logs the attacker in as you, which is why Recommended deletes the message and times the author out. Any other QR link runs through the same threat lists as a posted link.
